Sunday ringing 9.30-10am
Practice night Monday 8-9.30pm

Our band consists of 12 Sunday service ringers with two or three other locals who through work commitments are not regular members of the band. This band has been steady for a number of years now which means that we can ring Cambridge and Yorkshire regularly on Sundays together with the usual repertoire of touches of Grandsire and Stedman Triples thrown in. Our latest recruit also means that we ring a variety of methods of practice nights. If you intend to visit please make sure you look up Rossendale, Norwich and London Surprise Minor, Shalford Surprise Major and Double Norwich - all of which may feature on Monday nights.

The bells are an easy-to-ring 8, all with Hastings stays. The present bells, all cast by Taylor's in 1936, were installed to celebrate the coronation of King George VI and replaced 6 heavier bells (tenor 18cwt). As the tower is rather small, the frame is on 2 levels, with the 4th and 6th on top, and the ringing chamber does not have much room for those standing or sitting out. The entrance to the ringing room is via a short staircase from the broom cupboard at the west end.

If you are interested in learning to ring and join our band - we would be delighted to hear from you. The commitment is practice nights Mondays with a service ring each Sunday for half an hour. It's great fun and we are a very happy and friendly lot. We organise a number of outings during the year together with a couple of special events. In 2000 we arranged a sponsored ring to raise money for the Church Urban Fund by ringing 2000 changes one afternoon. We raised over £700 and rather enjoyed ourselves at the same time. We also enter at least two bands for a local striking competition (held in May) and providing we are placed within the top four teams (last two years) we are then invited to participate in the Diocesan competition which we consider quite an honour. Do come along on a Monday night and find out more.

The bellringers belong to the Guildford Diocesan Guild.
